Scientific Artwork & Infographics Workshop

Scientific Artwork & Infographics with Adobe Illustrator  – 7 March and 21 March 2022

Course Workshop Description

This course will teach the tools needed to create beautiful and functional vector graphics/illustrations and develop infographics. Vector graphics are the main product of Adobe Illustrator and the fundamental design element for your infographics. After completing the course, you will create your scientific artwork and efficiently visualize your data in Adobe Illustrator. We will discuss the theory behind infographics’ design, and you will appreciate the power of color and typography used in your designs.

Learning objectives

Our goal is to introduce Adobe Illustrator and help you design vector graphics, graphs & illustrations. Starting from scratch, you will discover how to navigate the program, draw your illustrations, and develop your infographics. You will be provided with a manual to look back when you have a new design challenge. You will be trained to recognize a good and lousy infographic design and improve your designs with necessary but straightforward designing techniques.

Instructional method

The course is divided into two sessions. The focus of the first session is on Adobe Illustrator and the design of vector graphics. You will first learn to use the program’s tools and then understand typography and color’s use within the program. We will dive into the design theory of infographics and the principles needed to create a great visual story and a good layout during the second. There will be several theoretical parts to both sessions, followed by exercises with the trainer’s supervision and help. The exercises will be given beforehand, but you will get the chance to work on your figures, visual abstracts & illustrations. The activities in the Adobe Illustrator session are designed to teach you the program’s tools and functions. The Infographic session will help you see and recognize designing flaws and enhance your designs with the knowledge you have acquired during the course.

After completing the course, the participants will be able to send their designs to the trainer and receive feedback.

To follow the course, you need a laptop, having Adobe Illustrator installed in the English language. You will receive a printed manual written in English, making it easier to follow the theory and practicals. Also, remember to have a mouse or a graphic tablet to work during the sessions since the laptop’s mousepad will make your work difficult.

The costs for the workshop are € 250,00 per person.
