Within ARC CBBC, I wish to accomplish…

Throughout my career, I have experienced multiple times that the biggest steps in moving science forward are being made at the interface of different disciplines by combining the knowledge of researchers from complementary fields. Complex, fundamental research questions in catalysis to address some of our current societal challenges can also only be tackled by working together and joining the efforts of multiple researchers with different capabilities. Being ambitious, eager to solve problems, and skilled in working in teams, I am highly motivated to participate with my expertise in organic synthesis in such a multidisciplinary endeavor.

In my scientific career, I am most proud of…

my scientific inventions in the field of organic synthesis, that initially led to publications in high impact chemistry journals, but that in later stages led to spin-off companies and eventually made it to the commercial market. This includes new biocatalytic reactions for resolving amino acid building blocks, and the development of processes and hardware to conduct chemical reactions in continuous flow micro reactors.
