We are delighted to announce the Stratingh Award, a prestigious biennial award established by the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry, University of Groningen. This award celebrates outstanding early-career researchers who have made significant contributions to the field of molecular chemistry within four years of completing their PhD and demonstrate exceptional potential to shape the future of the field.

The award will be presented at the GroMoChem International Symposium (May 10–13, 2026, Groningen - see confirmed speakers) and includes:

  • A monetary prize of €1,000
  • A certificate and artwork from the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry
  • An award lecture as part of the symposium’s plenary program (free registration, economy travel, and accommodation covered)

Eligibility

  • Researchers who completed their PhD no more than four years before the nomination deadline (career breaks for parental leave will be considered).
  • Candidates must hold a postdoctoral or equivalent early-career research position.
  • Nominees must not hold an academic appointment equivalent to group leader, assistant, or associate professor.
  • Research focus: molecular chemistry (broadly defined).
  • At least two first-authored, high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Selection Criteria

Nominations will be evaluated by the Scientific Board of the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry based on:

  • Scientific excellence and originality
  • Creativity and vision
  • Promise for future academic achievements

Nomination Process

Nominations (including self-nominations) must include:

  1. A nomination letter (max. 1 page) highlighting the nominee’s achievements and potential.
  2. A curriculum vitae (max. 3 pages).
  3. A one-page personal statement titled “Vision for the Future of Molecular Chemistry.”
  4. At least one letter of recommendation.
