25 April 2019
On Tuesday 16 April, we enjoyed the second annual ARC CBBC symposium, celebrating the visit of our international Scientific Advisory Board for evaluation of this year’s research proposals.
This year, the event was hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology, one of our three hubs, at their campus. In the university’s own theatre, the ARC CBBC community gathered for an inspiring programme. More than 110 of our Members, Scientific Advisory Board, young researchers, support staff and Supervisory Board saw presentations, took part into the panel discussion and shared insights on ARC CBBC’s research topics. During lunch, 30 of our PhD students, postdocs and Master students – some of whom started their projects just a few months ago – presented a poster.
Education Day
The next day was our first ARC CBBC Education Day. PhD candidates and postdocs followed a not so ordinary training on presentation skills: a real interactive theatre class. To be able to give a good presentation, scientist can learn from actors. Three of the young researchers – George Hermens (RUG), Savannah Turner (UU) and Siyu Li (TU/e) – used their new skills by presenting their work to our international Scientific Advisory Board, which had been discussing our research proposals all day long.
