Nanomaterials for Sustainable Applications Award 2026

Bert Weckhuysen received the 2026 “Nanomaterials for Sustainable Applications Award” from the Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai, India).

This award was given by Vice Chancellor Professor Aniruddha Pandit to Bert Weckhuysen in recognition for the foundation and application of the field of operando spectroscopy, including its application to make catalytic processes more sustainable and circular. Weckhuysen was “guest of honor” at the 3rd International Conference on Nanomaterials and Sustainable Applications (NANO-SA 2026) in Aurangabad where he gave a plenary opening lecture. Furthermore, he gave invited lectures in Mumbai (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research) and Bangalore (Indian Institute of Science and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research).
