New researchers

Jonas Gans en Yixin Zhang

A warm welcome to our new researchers! We would like to introduce them to you.

Jonas Gans (PhD candidate Differ, left photo) was born in Germany. He obtained his BEng and MEng in Chemical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Jonas did his Master’s project with M.C.M. van de Sanden at DIFFER (Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research) in Eindhoven (The Netherlands). Together with DIFFER’s industrial partner BASF he worked on plasma-catalyst synergy, under the background of electricity driven nitrogen fixation. In August 2023 Jonas joined ARC CBBC as a PhD candidate, furthering the same project on electricity driven nitrogen fixation with a deeper focus on reaction mechanisms.

Yixin Zhang (Postdoctoral researcher University of Twente) obtained his bachelor’s degree (2015) and master’s’ degree (2017) from Harbin Institute of Technology in China. After that, in 2021, he finished his PhD degree at University of Warwick in United Kingdom, funded by Warwick Chancellor’s Scholarship. In 2022, Yixin joined the Physics of fluids Group, University of Twente. He mainly works on interfacial fluid mechanics at the small scale though he has broad interests in many other scientific problems. So far, he have published about 10 first author papers including PNAS, JFM, PRF, PRE, Langmuir and so on.
