New Postdoctoral researchers

David Vesseur en He Zhao

A warm welcome to our new Postdoctoral researchers! We would like to introduce them to you. Photos left to right:

He Zhao (Utrecht University) was born in China and received his Bachelor's degree in Materials Chemistry from Zhengzhou University, where he studied the influence of ionic strength on the morphology and properties of (PUA/PSS)4 hollow microcapsules. He then started his Master's degree in Materials Physics and Chemistry at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on the exploration of bismuth halide perovskites as photoactive materials in solar cells and photocatalysis. To broaden the catalytic applications of bismuth halide perovskites, he continued researching their use as photocatalysts for hydrogen production at the University of Oulu, Finland, and completed his PhD thesis with the grade of 'Pass with Distinction'. In January 2025, he joined the ICC group as a postdoctoral researcher, studying the charge carrier dynamics in bismuth halide perovskites using transient absorption spectroscopy.

David Vesseur (University of Amsterdam) obtained his BSc and MSc from the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UVA) and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). During this Master’s studies he worked on the development of new C2 symmetric Co(II) complexes and their application in asymmetric carbene transfer reactions. David then Moved to Toulouse, France to obtain his PhD the research group of prof. dr. Didier Bourissou where he investigated the development of novel elementary steps with coinage metals enabled by ligand design and their application in new catalytic systems. Following this he moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands to work on the photocatalytic dehydration of alkenes under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bas de Bruin and Prof. Dr. Joost Reek. This research is carried out in collaboration with BASF.
