About me
Hi! My name is Ariq. I am from Indonesia, and was born in Jakarta. However, I spent most of my life living abroad in countries like Malaysia, Oman, and the Netherlands. I did my Chemical Engineering bachelor’s and master’s study at the same university, TU Eindhoven. I did my master’s thesis in the Inorganic Materials and Catalysis research group, which is the same group that I will undergo my PhD. I love playing badminton on weekends, and I am also a very big foodie!
About my research
My research will be focused on efficient catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. Catalysts will first be made using different synthesis techniques. Once synthesized, their structure and morphology will be characterized. We will perform kinetic testing of the catalysts to link their structure with performance. I think my background in Process Technology was what interested me in this project. I am aware of the CO2 emitted via chemical processes, and I also know that carbon capture is currently the go-to solution to limit such occurrences. However, I believe it would be beneficial if CO2 could be used as a feed and turned into a more useful product. I hope my research can contribute in turning this belief into reality.
Academic career
PhD candidate
2024 – Present: PhD researcher in the group of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis at TU Eindhoven, the Netherlands, under the supervision of Prof. Emiel J.M. Hensen and Dr. Nikolay Kosinov.
Chemical Process Technology MSc. Student at TU Eindhoven
2021 – 2023: Master’s student studying Chemical Process Technology at TU Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Obtained the iChemE accreditation at this time. Was also selected for the honor’s academy and pursued an extra MSc. Certificate on Technology Entrepreneurship and Management. My master’s thesis was conducted on catalysts for the CO oxidation reaction in the group of Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis.
