About me

I was born and raised in Izmir, Turkey. I am graduated from Molecular Biology and Genetic and I obtained my master degree in organic synthesis and polymer chemistry from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul in 2019. I have been worked in industrial collaborative projects for three years. My research focused on mostly polymer synthesis and polymer modification. Since February 2022, I have started my PhD in Prof Jan C.M. van Hest’s research group at Eindhoven University of Technology and joined ARC CBBC.

About my research

In our group, micro and nano scale polymeric structures are studied for compartmentalization of various cargos such as drugs and proteins. Particles can be constructed with control over size, shape, surface charge and functionality. My PhD project concentrate on the development of confined catalyst(s) for polyolefin degradation. In particular, I am working on synthesis of amphiphilic block polymers and self-assembly to produce polymeric vesicles which are polymersomes and stomatocytes. Besides, modifications and catalyst immobilization strategies are studied . When the effective nanoreactors are produced, they are aimed to convert polyolefin waste into feedstocks which will make a positive impact on environmental plastic problem.
