About me
My name is Marta Costa Figueiredo, and since 2019 I have been a Tenure track Assistant professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. I am Portuguese, but since I decided to pursue a PhD, I have been living in different European countries, from Spain (PhD) to Finland and Denmark (Post-Doc). I came to the Netherlands in 2014 to Leiden University as a Postdoctoral researcher, and after a few years, I decided to make the Netherlands my home. Before embracing the new journey in academia, I worked for two years as a Scientist at Avantium Chemicals in Amsterdam.About my research
My research is devoted to electrocatalysis and electro(catalytic)synthesis for sustainable processes and producing high-value chemicals like fuels and organic molecules from “waste” substrates such as carbon dioxide and biomass. The main aim is to understand, develop and optimize electrochemical reactions under practical, relevant conditions in order to give a step further on the usage of electrochemistry at industrial scale.Academic career
