About me
After an academically uneventful youth in my hometown of Zevenaar, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology in Leeuwarden. After graduation, I worked as an R&D chemist at Carbogen Amcis before moving to Norway to pursue a master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering at NTNU. Now, I’m back in the Netherlands for my PhD in Eindhoven at the IMC group. When I’m not mixing chemicals in the laboratory, I’m mixing ingredients in the kitchen, as I enjoy cooking, baking, and brewing beer
About my research
During this research, catalysts for the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of waste oils will be developed, where specific emphasis lies on finding and understanding catalysts resistant to water vapour at process conditions as well as performing these reactions without the presence of sulphur in neither catalyst nor feed. Various metal oxides will be synthesised and analysed under process conditions to study deactivation mechanisms of the catalysts, surface species and HDO reactions mechanisms and eventually influence of water on isomerisation of the products.
