About me
Most of my life I’ve lived in the city of Vlaardingen, near Rotterdam. During that time I finished Gymnasium nearby and afterwards I decided that Chemistry was the topic I wanted to learn more about. In Utrecht I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry followed by a master’s degree in Nanomaterials Science. During my years of studying I was involved in the chemistry students association and kept up my love for sports and reading. As a hobby I also picked up leatherworking.
About my research
My PhD research will concern the conversion of CO2 to methanol using thermocatalytic methods. My aim is to employ a combination of noble metals and reducible oxides to better understand the promotional influence of these reducible oxides and their oxygen vacancies on this catalytic reaction. For this, catalysts synthesis will be followed by in depth (in-situ) characterization and catalytic testing.
This deep understanding of catalyst materials within green chemical systems is something is something I’ve always loved about the field I’m working in, and I hope that it might lead to greener processes in the future.
